In this article St. Thomas shows that the relics of the saints must
be venerated with the cult of dulia, because the saints excelled in the
practice of all the virtues.
He says: "The bodies of the saints were temples and organs of the
Holy Ghost dwelling and operating in them, and are destined to be
likened to the body of Christ by the glory of the resurrection. Hence
God Himself fittingly honors such relics, by working miracles in
their presence."[1662]
This argument is valid in refuting the error of Protestants who
contend that the saints must not be venerated.
